About Adrian

My name is Adrian live in Malta and I am a passionate about web development and internet marketing. In this blog I want to share my development and marketing experiences in the attempt that my experiences serve as an inspiration help to any one who happens to read through it. Adrian Cini Something about me: My day job is a web developer and I have been doing it for the past 8 years. This daily constant code struggle to provided web applications for different clients resulted in the desing and development of several systems including online applications, web services, data migrations, mobile applications and portals I can be proud of. And though that is my day job and I would rather be in software than anything else my true passion is for Internet Marketing and the science behind it. The way I would describe it is like a Robin Hood tale where black hat or the hacker type of marketing which I tend to see as the underdog is in a continuous struggle with the white hat or how I visualise it the capitalistic marketing that is the companies with the big budgets. There is it Robin Hood and his thieves fighting an eternal battle with the internet giants and then there is the wizards like Google whose role is to keep this eternal balance. My Web Development Life I have been developing web applications since 2005. It all started when for my Computer Studies Bsc.Hons thesis I wrote about search engines and implemented an algorithm to make search results more personalised by analysing the interaction of the person with the search results returned by his query. This made sense at the time and was dreaming about creating a more personalised search engine but now I believe that the project could have been more useful in building user behavior profiles used in internet marketing. After graduating I started working in a Consultancy company in Malta and was outsourced to the UK on several projects. This was an amazing opportunity for me as I got introduced to several industries and technologies that were hard to find in Malta due to its size. One of the projects I enjoyed mostly was with a data analysis company about market sampling and panel management. These people were using questioners for data gathering and than through some complex mathematical algorithm make forecasts and that sounded like a cool thing to do. Mainly due to the bad weather in the UK and the need of a change in 2010 I joined a local company in Malta and was doing all kinds of software for local businesses and Government entities. This was fun as I met a lot of people but did not fulfill my need for technology. Government projects mainly use outdated technologies and local industry is limited to small outreach and restricted budgets. It was in 2012 that I decided to join a betting company as this looked more as what I was after. Betting companies compete on the latest technology, have big data centers and are not restricted by limited budgets. So far I am I am part of the Mobile development team working for one of the largest betting companies online. My preferred technologies are all members of the Microsoft stack, practically what a recruiter would call another .Net web developer. C# is my developing language, MS Sql Server my database and Team Foundation my source control. The reason why I do not use other technologies is just a matter of destiny and attitude. The Java vs .Net is a very hot topic and when one is to go for the weapon of choice it is mainly destiny to decide. When it comes to deliver web applications though I had my share of web forms, I am currently in love with MVC and the constantly evolving java client script frameworks and this is what I will be scribbling in my technology sections. See my Linked In profile for the full story My Internet Marketing Passion As I spend most on my existance online and love developing my own ideas into actual web applications that end up published but not visited I started understanding that I lacked knowledge in internet marketing. So what initially started as pure ccuriosity and frustration to increase traffic to on my web sites quickly turned into a passion. I have been awake countless nights following blogs to update my knowledge about the subject than applying such knowledge to my current web sites and constantly monitoring in the hope of seeing some any improvement One basic conclusion is that anyone that states internet marketing is a easy on click process no experience required is trying to confuse you into some scam. My approach to marketing my sites is high tech. I apply SEO principles to my own CMS and use a mix of black hat techniques to achieve white hat results. I will describe some of these as I keep on updating my blog. Do not ask me why I decided to start bloging. Mainly is because I love what I do and thus I felt the need to share it.
